This is amazing. I and my husband were ordained Pastors in 1998. Today, 2008, my husband teaches or gives imput but tells me he believes he is not called to Pator but will back me up because he sees the annointing on my life to minister. Connecticut shows to be bias against female pastors and will not invite them to speak at their churches. If the male is not showing leadership in this capacity, the female does not have a chance. Right now, I am hurting inside because I have pleaded with my husband (for over 35 years) to take the lead so we may become established (fit in with clergy). He will sit around he kitchen table and teach with me but, will not step out and pastor a church of our own - Any suggestions? Please help and pray for us.

Sexism and misogyny definitely exist in 2008! So does racism. While Obama may be seen as having more media backing than Clinton, he has been subjected to plenty of racist commentary. In a more general sense, racism exists in the subtle and not-so-subtle ways white people are privileged over people of color in our society.

Thanks for this post! The point about people who deny their own sexism but say a woman shouldn't be a pastor is particularly telling.
